Here is the
newest update for the tavern --
CURRENT UPDATE, as of December 7, 2008
The Historic Goble Tavern has now been re-opened for about a month and a half;
and has had the opportunity to see many new faces and the return of many of it's
original customers and friends.
I have now loaded the many pictures that I had taken during the renovation of the
tavern, along with some others that Tom Musgrove and Iran Johnson were kind enough
to share with us. Click here to
access the Renovation Pictures Page.
The tavern now has a Dinner Special, served each Thursday Evening; and are currently
working on an updated menu which I will add to the website as soon as it is available.
Wednesday Night continues to be Open Mic Night. Feel wecome to come on down and join in
the fun!
Friday and Saturday Night are Live Music Nights and a small cover-charge is now due at the door
on those evenings. The charge is only $2.00 per person or $3.00 per couple; so bring a friend/date
for only a buck more!
Update as of November 3, 2008
As of today, the tavern has been open for 5-days and from the
many that have visited, the reviews don't vary. From
those that have visted many times over the years ...
to those that are only stopping in for the first time; the
consent seems to be overwhelmingly ... "What a
great and amazing renovation!"
On the first day, my husband and I stopped by to see how things
were going....
In the first day....
We saw activists,
bikers, businessman, contractors, developers,
environmentalists, friends, government employees, hospital
employees, investigators, lawyers, musicians, naturalists,
optimists, politicians, state emplyees, truckers,
x-ray techs, and I'm sure the bartenders felt like
Zookeepers.
I'm sure there were some missed in the midst; however, we all
melded together, as is expected, at the 'Historic Goble
Tavern'.
I have spoken to several on the phone that have visited first on
their own, and returned with a friend that hasn't been back
in years. Other seniors , that I have talked to in passing
were very pleased to be able to go back and reminisce; while at
the same time share the change of time, with a youth that
didn't know that Goble was origianlly a town....or that
there was a town called 'Reuben" or "Nicolai".
Or even the more recent history ...
We heard a lot of history, we heard a lot of plans; but the best
part of what I saw....we all came together!
Thank you to all that have brought this great place back to a
gathering place, that can carry on the tradition of getting
together and sharing history.
Hope to see you all soon,
Betty
PREVIOUS UPDATE - October 27,
2008
I stopped by the tavern late this afternoon, and am able to tell
you all the following:
The "Soft Opening" for October 29, 2008 is
confirmed and the tavern looks GREAT!!
I can also tell you, a lot of memorires are displayed throughout
THANKS to the many that have worked on this project. I have
mentioned many during this last year of updating, but I want to
let everyone know about those that have been there; working on
this amazing project, from beginning to end!
I may have said this before, but I want everyone to know....
A special thanks to Jay, who has been there every time that
I have stopped by....often with his wife, family and friends
working to keep this great gathering place live for another
generation. Thanks Jay, and believe me...I have literlally
seen you put your "Blood, Sweat, and Tears"
(and possibly a few back bones) into this structure!
Thank you, and we will be glad to see you back at the
bar!
Mike, Meryl, Tom (sorry if is missed anyone in the new
ownership), and the consolidation of crews they have drawn
together to bring this transission about...you have done an
incredible job!
It is amazing how this lop sided structure has developed into a
great music location and ready for anyone to stop by for food,
music and fun over the years; and thanks to those that have
performed this last years work, we can welcome some
visitors without them wondering what they are walking into and
still bring the originals without them feeling like they are out
of place.
In other words, a TRUE, gathering place carrying on our sense of
community!
Some additional
notes
- For the Customers: I
recommend coming in the front door...It will give you a full
appreciation of the new
structure.
- For the Musicians....There is a very nice balcony
access to the interior band area for the entertainers.
- Even though the back yard is not yet developed for
the summer; there is a great deck that is perfect for those that
must step out for a smoke. With the great design of the
tavern, you can step out for a cigarette and not miss a beat when
it comes to the music.
- MOST IMPORTANT....sit down, look around, and
appreciate the new diggs!
If you haven't seen the "Goble Tavern Grand
Opening" email, please read on to the "Previous
Updates".
For All, we hope to see you at the "Historic Goble
Tavern" soon!.

PREVIOUS UPDATE - October 23, 2008
Hey Everyone....GREAT News!
Here is the newest update for
the Goble Tavern as of October 23,
2008
I had the opportunity to communicate with Meryl this morning, and
am able to tell you all the following:
The tavern has scheduled a "Soft Opening" for October
29, 2008. In other words, a trial run opening for all of us
that are too anxious to wait for the
...
...Grand Opening
"Re-Awakening"
Party.
The final building inspection is scheduled for tomorrow, and the
final lighting is being installed as I prepare this information.
The bathrooms have the new stalls, and the indoor
contractor clean-up is in the works.
Meryl has pulled together some of the old memorabilia for
display; and with some others, she has created some nice history
albums for all to appreciate on their visits. Not
everything will be able to be displayed in the first few months;
and of course, we will miss some, but with us the memory
survives! For memorabilia carried forward, it may
not be exactly where you expect.
When you see something familair, explain it to those you meet!
That is how history carries on!
Everyone involved in the reonovation deservese a lot of respect
for retaining a lot of information and a great place for all of
us to meet, laugh, enjoy great food, drink, company and music;
and share the history of the Goble Tavern.
Within the next few weeks, I will be including some new pictures
and hopefully some of those will include some of those reading
this update; although, you may be hard to identify ....In
Halloween Garb :-)
ON
TO THE SCHEDULE:
According to Meryl, the plans are as follows, and for those that
signed up for the "Grand Opening Email"; you have
probably already seen this:
Schedule:
Tavern
will open each day at
11:00AM
Wed, Oct 29th Soft
Opening/Trial Run - Casual Opening for those that
just can't wait :-)
(See the calendar before making a
drive, just in case anything might delay this
one)
Sat, November
1st Evening performance by the
"The Batz"
The Grand Opening "Re-Awakening"
Party date is still to be scheduled; however, I wanted you
all to have the opportunity to be there when the doors
open.
Menu:
The
Initial Menu will be a Basic Bar
Menu
(i.e. Hamburgers, Fish & Chips
etc. and finger foods - Menu to be expanded as time
progresses)
NOTE:
The Tavern
will be NON-SMOKING;
however, a convenient designated smoking area is
provided.
(This decision was made;
since the New Oregon State "Smokefree Workplace
Law" goes into effect on January 1,
2009)
As noted above, the initial opening will be casual, and fun will
be had on Halloween weekend. Following that, plans
will be made for the Grand Opening "Re-Awakening"
Celebration. As soon as we have confirmation of the
Re-Awakening" Party, we will post it here, send an
email to all that have made a request, and list it in our
website Calendar.
If you wish to be
included in the Grand Opening email, please send me an
email so I can add
you to the list.
Hope to see you all at the
"Historic Goble Tavern" soon!
